From Crisis to Co-op

After three years the Future Co-ops conference is back
Since we last gathered the whole world has changed; Covid, war in Ukraine, and a cost-of-living crisis.
Future Co-ops 2023 – From Crisis to Co-op will investigate what role co-ops can play in supporting people through the cost-of-living crisis. We know that
co-ops have a role to play in easing the situation but we’re not always sure how to translate that into action.

WHAT ROLE CAN CO-OPS PLAY IN SUPPORTING PEOPLE THROUGH THE COST OF LIVING CRISIS?

WE OFTEN SAY CO-OPS ARE THE SOLUTION, BUT ARE THEY? HOW CAN WE TRANSLATE THE RHETORIC INTO ACTION AND SUPPORT PEOPLE FACING A DESPERATE CHOICE BETWEEN ‘HEAT OR EAT’?

WHAT CAN EXISTING CO-OPS DO TO SUPPORT OTHER CO-OPS ON THE FRONTLINE?

HOW CAN WE GENERATE NEW CO-OPS QUICKLY?

HOW CAN WE GET MORE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN CO-OPS?

WHO ELSE SHOULD WE BE WORKING WITH?

HOW CAN THE CO-OPERATIVE MOVEMENT
HELP EASE THE COST OF LIVING CRISIS

From Crisis to Co-op – we can’t do it alone so the conference will hear from anti-poverty campaigners about their work and what the co-operative movement can do to work with them. We’ll also hear from other organisations who are already working to alleviate the impact of the crisis, what can we learn from them, what can we offer them, what should we be doing.
It’s a crisis, we need to act now, it can’t wait. By the end of the two days, we will have created a plan with clear actions that people have signed up to deliver. We want to draw on the hive mind of the delegates. Together we have the combined knowledge, skills, and resources needed to come up with some creative (but real) solutions.
