Celebrating Community Business – EAT MAKE PLAY

As part of Community Business Weekend 2019 we’re celebrating some of the amazing co-operatives that we have the pleasure of working with here at Co-operative Futures.

In our second blog of the weekend, we’d like to introduce you to EAT MAKE PLAY

EAT MAKE PLAY are a brand new co-operative set up in the B16 area of Birmingham to enable residents to come together, share resources, reduce waste, learn new skills and have fun!

EAT MAKE PLAY was born from two community events that took place in the area during 2018, which had a great turnout of local residents who turned up to share food and play games.

EAT GOOD – this strand of the community benefit society uses surplus food to batch cook meals which are then made available to the community at no/low cost. This saves food from going to landfill and also reduces cost for local residents – win-win!

MAKE GOOD – again focusing on waste reduction, Make Good teaches local residents the skills to repair and up-cycle clothing and other materials, thus diverting materials from landfill!

PLAY GOOD – this strand of the society is about bringing people together to have fun! Further community events are planned for 2019 to get residents out and about enjoying their local area.

If you’re based in the B16 area of Birmingham keep your eyes peeled here for ways to get involved!
